What is California Proposition 65?

The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity, and for businesses to provide warnings to consumers so they can make informed purchasing decisions when choosing products containing varying amounts of these chemicals. Prop 65 does not ban or restrict the sale of the chemicals on the list.
